River of Life

John Ortberg just gave me another great picture of the Christian life. God's spirit is a river and I am a tree planted by that river. My goal is to flourish by sending out my roots to partake of the water.

The Bible starts with the river flowing in the garden of Eden (Gen. 2:10) and it ends with the river (Rev. 22:1) flowing from the throne. "But blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (Jeremiah 17:7,8)
